“Life without ballet….would be pointeless”
Ballet develops the foundations of excellent dance techniques, improving posture, core strength, flexibility and style.
Ballet transforms pupils into dancers and inspires them musically.
We follow the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance (ISTD) syllabus which is a worldwide examining board providing a structured foundation for our classes.
ISTD examinations give the children the opportunity to show an examiner what they have been working towards in class, giving them a sense of achievement and pride. The higher grade examinations count towards UCAS points and are recognised as a sign of commitment and dedication. Examinations are not compulsory.
PRELIM ROSETTE – For children starting full time school
This is a fun fusion of basic ballet technique combined with modern dance, incorporating lively music and exciting exercises to improve musicality and rhythm. The class builds the bridge between Twinkle Toes and Primary Ballet. Each week children receive a sticker to add to their very own Prelim Rosette Sticker Chart. Children receive a special rosette when they complete their time in this class – a special keepsake to remind them of their achievement.
PRIMARY BALLET – School Years 1 & 2
This is our first ISTD syllabus level within ballet and the children work towards their first special primary class examination. We now work to improve technique, poise and dance quality, nurturing our little stars and teaching them the love of dance.
We continue to help the children to master the skills of ballet, as they progress through the ISTD examination grades 1-6. Ballet is a highly disciplined art form and we pride ourselves on teaching to an exceptional level achieving an 100% pass rate in our exams. This requires dedication and will instil confidence for all aspects of life.
These classes are for students with excellent technique and dance ability working towards vocational examinations. Pointe work is introduced from Grade 6.
