“Dance is the hidden language of the soul….“
Modern incorporates a variety of different styles, including jazz, lyrical, contemporary, hip-hop and many more! It helps to develop a strong well-limbered body and builds the physical and emotional qualities behind dance.
Modern as a genre has the ability to adapt, develop and evolve with the changing fashion in dance, thus helping us to create versatile and dynamic dancers.
We follow the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance (ISTD) syllabus which is a worldwide examining board providing a structured foundation for our classes.
ISTD examinations give the children the opportunity to show an examiner what they have been working towards in class, giving them a sense of achievement and pride. The higher grade examinations count towards UCAS points and are recognised as a sign of commitment and dedication. Examinations are not compulsory.
GRADED CLASSES – from School Year 2
Starting at Grade 1 the modern syllabus helps the children to develop their body control, dance quality and musicality. Moving up the grades the children work on versatility of movement and style, whilst developing core strength and flexibility. Modern dance really evokes the passion within the dancer and brings out the performer within.
Vocational classes run for our senior pupils who reach this level with us.
