Our dance teachers are fully qualified within the ISTD – the worlds leading dance faculty.
Our acting teacher is fully qualified within LAMDA and also a professional actress.
Our singing teacher has a degree in vocal teaching and also boasts a professional performing career.
These qualifications cover the dance, acting and singing syllabus, and examination work, health and safety and the understanding of child development.
We are also all first aid trained and CRB checked.
Meet the team….
Tracey is the director of the Jason Theatre School alongside Lauren Bayford.
Tracey began dancing at the Bristol School of Dancing at the age of five, she then went on to attain a place at the Doreen Bird College (Bird College) where she was headgirl. She graduated from there in 1987 with her ISTD associates in ballet, modern and national.
Tracey then went on to achieve further teaching qualifications within the ISTD including licentiate ballet and both fellowships in modern and tap dancing.
Tracey has been an examiner for the ISTD since 2002 – this is an extremely respected position within the field of dance. She also had the honour of being asked to be part of the creative team for the jazz awards and choreographed the new Bronze and Silver Jazz Amalgamations. She has also lectured and choreographed at the classes at the prestigious Janet Cram Awards in London.
Her professional work includes various pantomimes with ENB along with summer seasons and cabarets around Great Britain. Her TV extra work includes ‘Only fools and horses’ and ‘Robin of sherwood’.
Tracey has been teaching at Jason Theatre School since 1989 and is extremely proud of all the pupils, past and present, who have been in her life and part of the Jason family.
Lauren is the Director of the Jason Theatre School alongside Tracey Wring.
Lauren started dancing at the Jason Theatre School at the age of three and has never looked back! At eighteen she gained a full scholarship to The Arts Educational School, London where she graduated with a BA(Hons) Degree in Musical Theatre in 2005. Her professional work includes various television commercials and film productions and a tour with Jane McDonald.
Lauren realised her real passion lay in teaching dance and so continued her dance training at The Dance College, to complete her ISTD qualifications in ballet, tap, modern and national. She has been teaching for over sixteen years and loves every second of working with children! What other job means that along with other things, you get to be a fairy for a few hours of your day!
Kerry is the Head Dance Teacher here at Jason Theatre School aswell as being a partner of the school.
Kerry started dancing at the age of three at Jason Theatre School, where she first discovered her love for dancing and teaching. She then went on to train for three years at The Centre for Performing Arts College and graduated with a diploma and ISTD FDI and CDE teaching qualifications in ballet, tap and modern. She has performed in a number of shows and pantomimes in and out of the West End. Kerry has most recently gained her Level 3 Mat Pilates Diploma which she uses this to teach our Adult Ballet-cise class.
Kerry loves teaching and seeing others share in her love for dance. She loves watching each child improve with hard work and dedication.
Georgia started dancing with the Jason Theatre School at the age of three and stayed with us until she was eighteen years old, in that time she studied ballet, tap, modern, jazz and national dance – passing all her examinations with flying colours. Realising her passion was with dance and in particular teaching she then continued her dance training at The Dance College in Royston where she completed her ISTD teaching qualifications. Georgia teaches for us at our Enfield branch where she inspires over 100 children!
Courtenay has danced since the age of three at ‘Dance Scene’ in Harlow. After completing her A levels she successfully auditioned at several dance colleges and chose to concentrate on her teaching at ‘DNA Studios’. Courtenay teaches street dance, jazz and commercial, as well as ISTD modern, tap and ballet to children from the young age of 2 to 18 years old. Courtenay teaches at various schools in Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire and London and also teaches ((BOUNCE)) which is a rebounding exercise class.
Sally Hurst, T.V/Film actress is a former Jason pupil that went on to graduate with Honours from The Webber-Douglas Academy. Her film credits include ‘Essex Boys’, ‘The Lawless Heart’ and ‘Last Orders’ with Michael Caine. Her T.V. credits include The Bill, Holby Blue, Heartless, Prime Suspect, and Sold. She has also appeared with David Jason in A Touch of Frost, Kenneth Branagh in Wallander and Babylon with Danny Boyle as director. Sally has been our drama tutor since 2006 and during that time has coached our pupils most successfully for their Lamda Examinations, in addition to presenting our bi-annual drama production.
Lucy began her career singing at The Royal Albert Hall and The Queens Jubilee Celebrations. At sixteen, she toured Europe performing in many prestigious venues such as St Paul’s Cathedral and St Mark’s Cathedral. She also took part in many theatrical productions. She studied Vocal Teaching and successfully gained her degree in 2007.
She set up her well established business as a Vocal Coach in and around London. Lucy provides vocal tuition for both individuals and groups. She also conducts choirs and small ensembles. Lucy provides local workshops in musical theatre and prepares individuals for exams, assessments and auditions. She is also a regular judge for the countrywide competition ‘Festival 4 Stars’. Lucy is an experienced session singer and regularly records and performs as a solo singer. She also provides lead and backing vocals, and piano accompaniment for a number of function bands.
