“When you dance to your own rhythm….life taps its toes to your beat.”

Tap is a fabulous genre of dance to study, being accessible to all ages and abilities. It helps to develop rhythmic appreciation within all types of music.

Tap is a great way to stay active and each class leaves you with a sense of well being, taking home that toe tapping feeling.

With innovative tap styles from the iconic Fred Astaire to the street funk tap feet of Savion Glover – our classes cover them all!

We follow the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance (ISTD) syllabus which is a worldwide examining board providing a structured foundation for our classes.

ISTD examinations give the children the opportunity to show an examiner what they have been working towards in class, giving them a sense of achievement and pride. The higher grade examinations count towards UCAS points and are recognised as a sign of commitment and dedication. Examinations are not compulsory.

PRELIM TAP – For children of school age

With their new silver tap shoes the children are introduced to the wonderful world of tap dancing! Making rhythm with their feet and dancing to the beat these fun classes are a place to make some noise! Children receive a special rosette when they complete their time in this class – a special keepsake to remind them of their achievement.

PRIMARY TAP – School Years 1&2

In Primary tap the children work towards their first ISTD tap examination, learning to improve their footwork, co-ordination and rhythmic ability. These fun classes help our tiny tappers love the sound of their dancing feet!

We continue to help the children to master the skills of tap dancing, as they progress through the ISTD examination grades 1-6, building on their tap technique, including clarity of beating, precision of footwork, style, rhythmic interpretation and tonal quality. Our graded tap classes bring a sense of enjoyment and help to bring out your happy feet.

Vocational classes run for our senior pupils who reach this level with us.
